Jesus Christ Superstar Live Arena Tour
Jesus Christ Superstar Live is the latest production from Andrew Lloyd Webber, who has created many popular musicals such as Cats and Phantom of the Opera. It tells the story of Jesus’ final days before his crucifixion and resurrection, using music from Lloyd Webber’s original rock opera (which was released in 1970) and Rice’s album version (released in 1971). The show follows Pontius Pilate as he tries to solve a problem involving Jesus’ popularity with Jewish people. Pilate attempts to stop this by taking him into custody for trial before Herod Antipas—who eventually decides not to execute him. This leads Pilate to sentence Jesus instead.
